Position: 1 Senior Business Analyst - EL1 equivalent
Rates: Negotiable
Location: ACT (typically 3 days in the office and 2 days from home)
Start Date: Monday, 02 February 2026
Contract Duration: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions
Security Clearance: Must hold minimum an active NV1 clearance
Maximum Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Specific role description

The Database Management and Dynamics Section within the Business Solutions Branch of DFAT's Information Management and Technology Division has a requirement for an ICT labour hire resource to fill the role of Senior Business Analyst to provide specialist development, technical services and support for DFAT’s Data warehouse, business intelligence and reporting function.

• Study business processes, systems, and performance to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Gather and document requirements: Elicit and record the needs of stakeholders, translating them into clear specifications for development teams.
• Create data models, process diagrams, and wireframes to visualize potential solutions.
• Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
• Assist with testing and the implementation of new systems and processes.
• Compile and present data, reports, and recommendations to stakeholders and executives.
• Develop user documentation and training materials for new systems and procedures.
• Engaging with business stakeholders to understand their needs and express these as user stories and requirements.
• Conducting research and in-depth analysis of existing business processes, data and products.
• Collaborating with subject matter experts, end users, product owners, architects, developers, database administrators and testers to design and deliver solutions.
